Our Events

The Yorktown Republic Town Committee is proud to sponsor several events each year to benefit our candidates and bring the community together. Our six annual events are fun filled and family friendly and we encourage you to mark your calendars and join us each year at our events.

We also hold monthly committee meetings as well as our annual nominating convention at locations throughout town. Scroll down to see a copy of our latest meeting calendar and join us at an upcoming Committee meeting.

Annual St. Patrick’s Day Celebration

Held in March of each year, we celebrate the kick-off the campaign season with corned beef and all the trimmings.

Barbara Bush Mother’s Day Brunch

Every May we celebrate the greatest women in our lives with an elegant affair that featuring a keynote address from a woman in public service who is a mother.

Cigars & Cars

Each summer some of the rarest and fastest automobiles in the tri-state area come to Yorktown for our car show, with fine tobacco provided by our generous sponsors.

Person of the Year Awards

Our largest annual event is a dinner where we recognize those who have given service to our great community. There are four different awards which may be presented at this event, which has been held for over thirty years running.

The Senator Terrence Murphy Spirit of Yorktown Award is the highest award that can be received from our committee and is awarded to individuals who embody and exemplify the spirit of our great town. It is named for Yorktown’s first state Senator, Dr. Terrence P. Murphy, who served as a town councilman from 2010 to 2014 and as a member of the New York State Senate from 2015 to 2018.

The Assemblyman Theodore Hill Jr. Lifetime Achivement Award is our second-highest designation and salutes those who have given many years of service to the people of the great town of Yorktown. The award is named after Ted Hill Jr., a Yorktowner who served as town supervisor and spent 22 years in the New York State Assembly from 1938 to 1960 who was Yorktown’s first state elected official.

The Supervisor Nancy Elliott Public Service Award salutes true trailblazers in public service who live or work in Yorktown. Named for the legendary Town Supervisor who served from 1980 to 1992, Nancy Elliott was the first woman elected Town Supervisor in our town’s history.

The Legislator John Hand Person of the Year Award is given annually to recognize an individual or individuals whose achievements the Yorktown Republican Town Committee feels should be recognized and emulated by others. John Hand was a former Town Supervisor and Westchester County Legislator who spent over two decades in government.

Lobster Clambake

Our Yorktown GOP candidates moved Yorktown forward by bringing exciting events to our town like the San Gennaro Festival, which attracts visitors from all over who shop in our stores and eat in our restaurants. Every year we are pleased to have a little “pre-festival” clambake celebration to kick-off the week’s events.

Pre-Victory Breakfast

Our chair’s pre-victory breakfast is the final rally before voters head to the polls on election day. The event is our opporunity to salute all the volunteers and district leaders who work so hard every year on our campaign efforts and is followed by a day of door-to-door campaigning and phone banking as we make our final push to get Yorktowners out to vote.

We also hold several non-recurring events each year, from time to time, as the needs of our candidates and committee arise. Political campaigns are expensive, but hosting community events is a great way to bring people together and provide our slate with the financial resources needed to get our voters to the polls.
